Basketball Skills/Mighty Mights Basketball Level II-Gr K-2
Laura Rencher, Carolyn Slade. This class is for younger students who are just starting to develop their basketball skills, but are not ready for league and competitive team play. Not old enough to play in the Parks & Rec fall basketball league? Stay after school and work on your basketball skills to get an early start for next year. This class is designed as an opportunity to develop ball handling skills. Also for those preschool kids that have completed Mighty Midgets Basketball level 1 and can dribble a basketball while moving. Laura Rencher has over 15 years of professional and volunteer experience working with grade school children.

Dance Classes - Educated Feet - A Little Bit Country
This dance series will get you stepping out to your favorite Country & Western tunes! Swing is the logical place to begin and this version, COUNTRY SWING uses easy walking steps & simple 4 count patterns to dance slow-medium tempos. Pick up the pace and dance medium-fast tempos with TEXAS 2 STEP, a lively and popular traveling dance marked by its simple 6-count step combination of quick, quick, slow, slow. We'll learn a few patterns in each so you'll have all tempos covered!

Italian Language and Cuisine for the Curious Traveler - Italian Fundamentals
Ashlee Redfern. After living in Italy for 8 years, traveling, studying and graduating from the Università di Firenze (Florence), Ashlee returned to the Pacific Northwest and earned a TESOL certification from Seattle University’s S-TESL program. She has taught English in Italy and Italian in the USA over the past 10 years. Her Italian Language Courses are specifically designed for Curious Travelers and Continuing Learners with the end goal of conversation-basic grammar, useful vocabulary, cultural information and colloquialisms will be tools for gaining confidence in speaking this musical and romantic language.

Children will have an opportunity to explore basic concepts of sports and develop skills like kicking, throwing, and hitting. We will practice skills for development into soccer, tee-ball, and basketball. We will also develop social skills such as taking turns, following directions and playing with others.

Senior Trips - Olympic Peninsula Wineries: Red Wine & Chocolate
This one was a hoot last year! Join the group as we venture to the Olympic Peninsula for their Red Wine and Chocolate Event. From Port Townsend to Port Angeles, each winery will pair delicious specialty chocolates with perfectly matched red wines. From the fullness of Cabernet to the finesse of Syrah, come see what all the excitement is about in this combination. Tickets are not required for the event; but a $5 wine tasting fee will be charged at each winery for non-ticketed visitors. An event fee of $30 will get you tastings at each stop. A schedule for specific wineries to visit that day is not yet available; but we should have the schedule in January. Fee includes transportation; wine tasting and lunch on your own.

Tarot Cards
Janet Rockas. Have you ever wondered how the Tarot cards predict the future? If this is you come join us for a beginning interactive and fun-filled class. We will explore the history, suits, symbols, color and meaning of each card. By the end of this course you will be able to use your knowledge in giving readings for yourself and others. Participants will need to purchase a Rider Waite or Universal Waite tarot deck and the book “A Complete Guide to the Tarot” by Eden Gray, available at Barnes & Noble and Amazon. Recreation Center.

Poulsbo P-Patch at Raab Park



Title: Poulsbo P-Patch at Raab Park

Important Dates: Returning gardeners get plot priority and should sign up before Feb 28; new gardeners will be assigned plots after March 1. The first orientation meeting is Saturday, April 5.

Description: Are you anxious to get started on your 2014 gardening?  The Raab Park Community Garden (The P-Patch) is a partnership between the WSU Extension Kitsap Master Gardener Program and the Poulsbo Parks and Recreation Department. The P-Patch has 42 sunny garden plots in two sizes: 10’ x 20’ & 10’ x 10’. Gardeners must use organic gardening practices, products and materials. Information and resources on organic gardening are provided, as well as many hand tools and gardening implements. Produce may not be sold but may be shared or donated to a food bank. Participants are responsible for signing a “Gardener’s Agreement” and providing their own seeds, plants, organic fertilizers and/or compost. They are also required to contribute six (6) hours of community work in the garden’s common areas. Water is included.

Girls Sping Volleyball League



Title: Girls Spring Volleyball League

Dates & Times: March-June 2014 (Specific dates and times will be determined by coaches and the programmer as teams form.)

Description: This builds on our fall volleyball season; the continued exposure for the girls will benefit these athletes for years to come!  We are offering volleyball through Poulsbo Parks and Recreation, drawing players from the North Kitsap, Bainbridge Island, and Central Kitsap areas. There will be 5/6th and 7-9th grade divisions; with division splits based on team skill levels. There could be some travel required to gyms in Central Kitsap and BI.   • Practices: Practices will start late March/early April, or as soon as your team forms! NK, CK, Bainbridge Island gyms. 
  • Games: There will be 8 games per team from late April - June 7/8, our end of season playoff weekend!

Open Gyms: For registered players, optional open gyms are on Wednesdays starting March 19, 6-8pm at Poulsbo Middle School

Coach: Specific coaches can be requested.

Location: Since this is a league, we practice at many locations. You may request a specific location upon registration.
